Imagine enduring a pain so deep yet finding the courage to share your story so others can heal. This is the resilience we honor at TentMakers of Louisiana, a St. Landry Parish organization dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual abuse. While based locally, our work has reached people nationwide and internationally, addressing critical needs through education, advocacy, and direct support for survivors. This November, we invite you to join us in sustaining this mission by attending our first annual Resilience Rising Gala.
At TentMakers, we work to provide hope, healing, and justice to those impacted by abuse. Through educational forums, we equip families, communities, and professionals with knowledge and tools to prevent abuse and better understand the trauma it leaves behind. Our Resilience in the Shadows podcast gives survivors a voice, enabling them to share their journeys, offer hope to others, and demonstrate that healing is possible. These efforts, grounded in compassion and commitment, have made TentMakers a fitting symbol of resilience for our parish, our state, and beyond.
Our upcoming Resilience Rising Gala on November 15th at Vermilionville in Lafayette is an opportunity for the community to join hands in supporting these initiatives. Funds raised will allow us to continue our work throughout the year, from hosting educational events to providing platforms where survivors can safely share their stories.
The evening will be graced by musician Tim E. Burns, whose journey of trauma and recovery reflects the resilience we celebrate. In both his music and his words, Tim captures the strength and vulnerability of survival. His original songs, Broken Crayons, and Darkness, are powerful testaments to his own healing journey and to the hope he extends to others. In addition to performing at the Gala, Tim joins us as a guest on the next episode of our podcast, where he shares his story and performs Darkness live in the studio.
By attending the Resilience Rising Gala, you support TentMakers’ year-round work and become part of a community that believes in creating a safer, more compassionate world. Every ticket purchased and donation received helps us reach more survivors and bring healing into more lives.
