The Opelousas Pregnancy Center has announced it will be moving to a new location, through supportive efforts made from contributions of the community.
The news of their plans to acquire a new permanent location were mentioned during the Be the Spark Gala last month. In a newsletter earlier this month, the center’s director released an announcement stating they were able to acquire their very own building to call home for Opelousas Pregnancy Center. The center’s current location is one they have been renting; with the growth and expansion plans for Opelousas Pregnancy Center, however, they have successfully acquired a new permanent location in the former CASA building. The new location will offer more spacious rooms for the center to accommodate expecting mothers.
April Sharp, Director of Operations, stated “we are very excited about moving into our new building at 421 N. Main Street Opelousas! This new home for the center further demonstrates the generous support of our community and the continuous need to serve mothers and babies here in St. Landry Parish.”
She stated what the organization needs right now is the continued support and prayers from the community. “We are currently in need of cleaning supplies and gently used home and office furniture. We will also need help cleaning, painting, packing, and unpacking” she stated in response to how the community can continue support of the center’s progress. Upcoming dates will be announced via Facebook for anyone who wishes to help out and volunteer their time during the transition. If you have items you wish to donate or would like to volunteer to assist in the move please call 337.331.0602 to discuss how you can help in the progress of their move.
I asked April what are the future plans with the Opelousas Pregnancy Center as a result of this big move. She states, “We will continue to provide valuable services and support for moms and babies in St. Landry Parish. We have plans to expand our educational classes, and increase our nurse and mentor appointment availability. We look forward to continuing to be the comfortable, safe place where moms facing unplanned pregnancies can visit for compassion and hope.”
You can follow the organization’s Facebook Page Opelousas Pregnancy Center to see updates on their progress and requests from the community.
