St. Landry Parish public elementary school children participating in the gifted and talent programs had their artwork displayed last Friday at the Opelousas Museum and Interpretative Center.
The creative exhibits that featured painting, drawings, print making and sculptures, were prepared for public viewing at the museum for several hours.
Parents and school-age children moved throughout the museum, glancing at the various artistic presentations and providing comments about their subject matter and inspirations.
Jerome Ford and Heather Wallace was the featured gifted and talented art instructors who presided over the event.
Ford said that students in second through six grades from 13 parish wide elementary schools provided art for the event.
“This year we included about 60 children who provided their best work. It’s an annual event and we think providing a place for the students to display their art will hopefully serve as a way to keep them interested and inspired,” Ford said.
