FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Opelousas, La – On April 18, 2024, Officers with the Opelousas Police Department’s Special Operations Division concluded a narcotics investigation into information regarding a substantial number of illegal narcotics being at a residence in the 900 Blk. of Julia St. Investigators conducted surveillance of the area and upon verifying information related to the illegal narcotics officers initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle that had just left the area of the targeted location. After obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle involved in the traffic stop officers ultimately seized over (10) pounds of suspected high-grade marijuana. Taken into custody and charged at the conclusion of the investigation were the following persons:
Curley Richard Jr. age: 28 Address: 900 Blk of Julia St. Opelousas, La. 70570
Laura King age: 52 Address: 900 Blk of Herman St. Opelousas, La. 70570
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS
- 40:1023–Prohibited Act
Both were booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.
