On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the St. Landry Parish Narcotics Unit conducted an undercover operation where a detective, posing in an undercover capacity, made contact with Lydell Rubin. During this contact, the undercover officer was able to successfully negotiate the purchase of one pound of high grade marijuana from Rubin for $1500.00.
Rubin then directed the undercover officer to meet him at 1708 Pujo Street, Opelousas. Narcotics Detectives established surveillance on 1708 Pujo Street and observed Rubin sitting behind the driver’s seat of a 2009 Toyota Camry in the driveway. As narcotics detectives approached Rubin, Rubin exited the car and attempted to flee on foot. Rubin was detained very quickly and patted down for weapons. Upon a search of Rubin’s person, detectives located a semi-automatic pistol in Rubin’s front right pant pocket. Detectives also observed marijuana and crack cocaine in plain view on the center console of the vehicle which Rubin was driving.
Narcotics Detectives secured written permission to search the residence of 1708 Pujo Street from Lance Richard. Richard was cooperative with detectives and advised he had additional marijuana inside the home.
Upon a search of the residence, detectives located approximately two pounds of high grade marijuana, approximately 20 grams of Fentanyl and 26 Fentanyl/Oxycodone pills. Detectives also discovered Richard was going to supply the one pound of high grade marijuana to Rubin, which Rubin was going to sell to the undercover officer.
