According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On December 15, 2022, narcotics detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted criminal patrol in St. Landry Parish.  While on patrol, detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Toyota Tundra.”

When Detectives activated their emergency warning lights, the driver of the Toyota Tundra attempted to flee the scene. The vehicle turned onto a dead end road, at which time the vehicle came to a stop. The driver was identified as Christopher Damien Charles and the passenger was identified as Rico King.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives located half of a pound of crystal methamphetamine.  The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $23,000.00.

On December 15, 2022, both Rico Daniel King and Christopher Damien Charles were transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail.  Rico King was charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule II CDS (methamphetamine).

The passenger, Rico King has numerous prior convictions for drugs and armed robbery. He has a violent criminal history.

Christopher Charles was charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule II CDS (methamphetamine), driving on the roadway laned for traffic, stop sign violation, and aggravated flight from an officer.

Christopher Charles is currently on parole until 2030 for previous drug charges.
