OPERATION TAKE BACK THE CITY

According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On May 30, 2023 the St. Landry Parish Narcotics Unit received information of a black male who would be delivering 2 ounces of cocaine within St. Landry Parish.  Detectives made contact with the black male identified as Jonathan Edwards who was driving a white SUV at the predetermined location. Edwards was taken into custody without incident.”

During a search of the vehicle, detectives located a clear plastic bag, containing a white powdery substance suspected to be approximately 29 grams of cocaine, 3 white pills suspected to be Percocet and a semi automatic 9mm handgun.

The estimated street value of illegal narcotics located is valued at approximately $2,930.00.

Detectives learned that Jonathan Edwards was a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history, consisting of manufacturing schedule I CDS (marijuana), resisting an officer, aggravated assault with a firearm, taking contraband into a penal institution, possession of a firearm by persons convicted of certain felonies, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial numbers and attempted second degree murder.

Jonathan Edwards was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule II CDS (cocaine), possession of schedule II CDS (Percocet), illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of a CDS and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.
