The Preservationists of St. Landry, Inc. have begun selling sponsorships and tickets for a Mother’s Day Brunch scheduled for the historic Michel Prudhomme Home in Opelousas.

Proceeds for the May 14 outdoor event will be used to make several major repairs at the house, which was built sometime during the early 1800’s and whose condition has been supervised by the non-profit preservationist group formed in 1976.

The goal of the brunch which will be catered, is to secure 40 sponsors at $500 each. Each sponsor will receive two brunch tickets.

Individual tickets for the event which went on sale earlier this month, are also available at $100 each.

Immediate repair needs for the home according to members of the preservationists, include repairing the gutter system which discharges water, boards on the second story gallery and several roofing tiles which have deteriorated due to age.

During the past several months, members of the preservationists have met in order to discuss details of the brunch and prioritize the repairs which they say are essential to maintaining the overall condition of the house.

Bruce Gaudin is in charge of brunch in addition to sponsorships and ticket sales.

Gaudin can be contacted at 337-948-3818 or by fax at 337-942-4510.
