Workshops
The Lafayette Genealogical Society hosts Genealogy 101, a workshop/round table, Saturday, November 5th, beginning at 9:30am at the Lafayette Parish Library, Downtown location, 2nd floor, 302 W. Congress, Lafayette.  Learn how to begin your genealogy search, bring your questions and meet others who are interested in research. 

Continue your research at “Genealogy Tuesdays” every Tuesday on the 3rd floor Genealogy Room from 9:30 to 11:30am where LGS members will assist you with your research. 

Lafayette Genealogical Society Monthly Meetings
October Meeting
Neal Bertrand presented the program for October on the 22nd of the month. It was a very interesting PowerPoint about the Bertrand Family of Louisiana. Neal’s new book, Grandpa’s Old Photos, focuses on this family.

November Meeting
The next monthly meeting will be Thursday, November 17, 2022 beginning at 6:00 p.m., Lafayette Public Library, Southside Branch, 6101 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA.  Guest Speaker is Louisiana native, Carola Lillie Hartley.  Among her many credits, she is an author, has been active in community development, historic preservation and tourism not only in Louisiana, but Kentucky and New Jersey, and she is publisher of the St. Landry Now online newspaper.  Her presentation will center around her recently released book, “Opelousas”.  For more information, go to LALGS.org or find us on Facebook.
