Opelousas, LA, 6/6/22, In an effort to keep our parish municipalities abreast of the health needs of their constituents, Opelousas General Health System Foundation will host St Landry Parish Mayors for an informative luncheon meeting at the Delta Grand Theatre in Opelousas, LA on Wednesday, June 8. It will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

During the COVID pandemic, the OGHS Foundation recognized the need to provide relevant and valuable information on the state of health in St. Landry parish through the Healthy St. Landry Alliance. The weekly calls that were held with leaders throughout the parish, proved to be a vital communication tool in keeping everyone safe and informed.  Because of its success, we would like expand our communication on health in our parish.  Our goal for this event is to provide elected officials the opportunity to bring innovative ideas to their constituents.

As part of the agenda for this year’s event, attendees will be introduced to the work of the Healthy St Landry Alliance, an affiliate of OGHS Foundation. Policy change, social determinants of health, population health and how tobacco-free spaces are reshaping communities.  We will also provide other health related data specific to St. Landry parish.
