Opelousas Police were called to the 100 Blk of S. Academy St. in reference to someone being shot. Upon arrival officers found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying in the roadway. Officers began to administer lifesaving procedures but emergency medical personnel confirmed the victim was no longer showing signs of life. Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage in the area. The victim’s identity will be released pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time. Updates will be sent as they are available.
