On June 9, 2022 at approximately 11:00 PM officers with the Opelousas Police Department were patrolling the near the area of the 700 blk of St. Cyr St. when officers heard gunshots in the area. One male victim was located in the area of the 800 Blk of St. Cyr St. suffering from a single gunshot injury. The victim received emergency medical aid and was transported to a local medical facility in serious but stable condition. The initial investigation determined that the victim was walking in the area of St. Cyr St. when a gray or silver colored sedan with tinted windows passed and fired several shots striking the victim in the back area. The investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
