Update:
Opelousas Police need the publics assistance in locating the person responsible for the April 14, 2023 shooting that occurred in the 700 Blk. of Madison St. that injured one male victim. Through the course of the investigation investigators developed information which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for 20 year old Janiaya A. Lafleur of Eunice, La. The arrest warrant was issued for the following charges:
- 1 Count of Attempted Second Degree Murder
- 1 Count of Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
It was learned that the shooting resulted from a dispute between the victim and Lafleur over a mutual acquaintance.
Opelousas Police ask anyone with any information related to this shooting or the whereabouts of Janiaya A.
