Opelousas Police are currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just after 8:00 A.M. at the Anytime Fitness located on S. Union St. in Opelousas. The shooting occurred after two members were engaged in a disturbance. One adult male victim received a single fatal gunshot injury. Attempts by other gym members and first responders to perform life saving measures were unsuccessful. What lead to the disturbance is unclear at this time, but a previous disturbance had occurred between the (2) parties. The suspected shooter has been taken into custody and is currently being interviewed by investigators. The investigation is active and more details will be released as they become available.
