Update:
Janiaya Lafleur who was wanted by Opelousas Police for an April 14, 2023 shooting was taken into custody in an unrelated investigation in Point Coupee Parish. On July 29, 2023 Lafleur was taken into custody after being in a reported stolen vehicle that was involved in a high speed chase in West Baton Rouge Parish that ended in Point Coupee Parish. Multiple agencies were involved in the apprehension including an Angola chase team. A detainer has been placed on Ms. Lafleur for the charges related to the April 14 2023 shooting. Upon release from the Point Coupee Parish Jail, Lafleur will be transported to the St. Landry parish jail to face the following charges:
- 1 Count of Attempted Second Degree Murder
- 1 Count of Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
