Congratulations to the 2023 OGHS Foundation Scholarship Recipients.
The OGHS Foundation recently awarded nine St. Landry Parish students a cumulative total of $40,000 in scholarships during the annual Scholarship Banquet. The 2023 recipients are Amy Chevalier, McKenzie Fontenot, Tenecia Gobert, Anya Lanclos, Taylor Matte, Maddie Naquin, Abigail Schexneyder, Elizabeth Sonnier and Lauren Usie.
These scholarships are made possible through the annual OGHS Foundation Golf Open held each year in March. Scholarships are awarded to students in the parish pursuing a degree in healthcare on the basis of academic background, probability of graduation, maturity, financial status, community involvement, and availability of resources and the needs of Opelousas General Health System
The scholarship amounts include either full or partial payment of tuition to either Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA), Louisiana State University at Eunice (LSUE), University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) or south Louisiana Community College – TH Harris Campus or Lafayette Campus. Curriculum fields include nursing, respiratory therapy, radiologic technology, medical records, medical office assistant, patient care technician and other healthcare related fields.
Scholarship applications become available each calendar year in January and can be accessed by visiting www.opelousasgeneral.com/oghs-foundation. The amount of scholarships varies with each recipient based upon the number of applicants, the amount of funding available and the applicants chosen field.
