ANOTHER PORT BARRE MAN WANTED FOR BENCH WARRANTS
According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On August 18, 2022, Narcotics detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office went to the address of 290 Mila Road, Port Barre, Louisiana after receiving multiple tips from St. Landry Crime Stoppers. Upon arrival at the residence, detectives made contact with Steven Nezat Jr. and Austin Benoit.
During a search of the residence, detectives located approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine. Detectives also located a shotgun and 2 rifles. One of the rifles had a suppressor (silencer), which is illegal without proper federal registration paperwork.
Additionally, detectives located a pressure washer and an aerator for a home sewer tank. After running the serial numbers of both items through the National Crime Information Center database (NCIC), detectives learned that both items were reported stolen.
On August 18, 2022, Steven Creig Nezat, Jr. was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with possession of schedule I CDS (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS, possession or dealing in unregistered or illegally transferred weapons.
On August 18, 2022, Austin Tyler Benoit was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged possession of schedule I CDS (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS (2 counts).
