St. Landry Parish Government to Open Emergency Shelter at Yambilee Building in Preparation for Extreme Cold Weather.
(OPELOUSAS, LA) – In response to the impending freeze forecasted for next week, St. Landry Parish Government announces the opening of an emergency shelter at the Yambilee Building, beginning Monday, January 15, at 3:00 pm. The shelter will remain operational until Wednesday afternoon.
The Yambilee Building, located at 1939 W Landry Street Opelousas, LA, will provide a safe and warm environment for residents seeking refuge from the cold temperatures expected in the coming days. Individuals are encouraged to bring their own blankets, pillows, and snacks.
St. Landry Parish Government is committed to the well-being of its community members and aims to provide a supportive space during adverse weather conditions. The shelter will be staffed with trained personnel to assist and accommodate those seeking shelter.
