Happening this Saturday, September 30th there will be a rice and gravy cook-off benefit for Rusty Jesclard. The Yambilee Ag Arena will have a DJ, bands, live and silent auction, fun jumps, petting zoo, face painting, and much more!
The event is being held as a benefit to help defray medical expenses and travel costs for Rusty Jesclard who is currently undergoing treatment for a rare type of cancer.
Schedule and Band Line-Up
The cook-off set up will begin at 7am.
The cornhole tournament will take place at 8:30am
Don Fontenot and Friends of Louisiana will kick the event off from 9am-10:15am.
One Trick Pony will take the stage at 10:45am till noon
Alligator Blue from 12:30-2pm
Live Auction begins at 2pm
Badd Kuntry plays from 4-6pm.
There will be numerous items of great value to bid on during the silent and live auction generously donated by sponsors and donors. A pair of LSU tickets for the Georgia State game in November, kitchen appliances, handcrafted wooden furniture pieces, deer feeder and various gift baskets and certificates are just some of the many items that will be available.
Per the venue’s policy: No glass beer bottles, wine bottles, liquor bottles, etc. are allowed. If you are caught with any glass, you will be asked to leave.
Rusty’s Story
Rusty Jesclard is a resident of Opelousas, LA who has been diagnosed with Leiomayosarcoma (LMS)–a rare type of cancer– in April of this year. Rusty is a registered nurse who has played a crucial role in helping the lives of many in his care. His wife Mia is employed by the St. Landry Parish school board as an educator. He is the father of five children, ranging in age from 3 to 17. Rusty has always cooked in benefits throughout the community and now they want to give back.
His aggressive treatment plan has him out of work for a minimum of six months and requires frequent travel to MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center in Houston for weeks at a time.
Rusty and his family have a strong faith and believe that God will see them through everything and place people in their path that will be able to offer assistance. They are active members of Queen of Angels Catholic Church parish in Opelousas, where their entire family serves.
