According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On January 28, 2022, a juvenile reported to St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives that she was raped by Karter Charles Bacque in July 2020. At the time of the incident, the juvenile was under the age of 14.”
Upon further investigation by the detectives, it was determined that the victim attended a sleepover with 2 other juveniles in attendance. During the middle of the night, the 2 other juveniles made plans to leave the home and meet Karter Bacque at his home. The victim didn’t want to stay at the home without the others and requested to accompany them.
Upon arrival at the residence, the victim stayed inside a back bedroom and the other 2 juveniles went into another bedroom with Karter Bacque. Karter Bacque requested the victim to join them in the bedroom several times, which she refused. One of the other juveniles stated that Karter Bacque wanted all of the juveniles to take photos. When the victim entered the room, Karter Bacque and the two juveniles were unclothed. Karter Bacque requested the victim remove all of her clothes but she refused; however, she did remove her pants only. When she joined the juveniles on the bed, the room was dark except for the flash of the camera. Karter Bacque then forcibly had sexual intercourse with the victim. The other 2 juveniles struggled with Karter Bacque and the victim was able to leave the room. All juveniles were able to leave the residence a short while later.
On March 9, 2022, an arrest warrant was issued for Karter Charles Bacque.
On March 13, 2022, Karter Charles Bacque was booked at the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with second degree rape, 2 counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and video voyeurism.
