On February 15, 2022, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted by St. Landry Parish Solid Waste in reference to a male attempting to recover property, which the male stated was “accidently” thrown away.
Detectives responded to 417 Solid Waste Road, Washington, La. and made contact with Solid Waste Staff, who advised detectives of the situation. Detectives seized approximately 286 clear plastic bags, each bag containing suspected marijuana, with a combined weight of approximately 3 pounds.
Detectives were able to locate and make contact with Marvin Jermaine Leday at his place of employment, where he was advised of his rights and consented to a search of his vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, detectives located approximately $3,465.00 in the trunk of the vehicle, concealed under the spare tire, and two more clear plastic bags, containing suspected marijuana, located within the center console of the vehicle.
Marvin Leday was later arrested, transported, and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail for Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS (Marijuana) and Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses.
On behalf of Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, this is Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
