This was a very significant arrest in light of the growing issues with suspected overdoes occurring while persons are using heroin that may also contain varying amounts of fentanyl. The heroin will be analyzed to determine if fentanyl is present. Countless lives may have been saved by getting this significant amount of dangerous narcotics off of the streets of our community. Ricky Beard and Owen Ozenne were booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on the following:

On December 10, 2021 a Father and Son were arrested in connection with the seizure of a large amount of suspected Heroin. The investigation began as officers were investigating a possible missing persons complaint. Ultimately it was discovered that a disturbance had occurred between Mr. Ricky Beard age 54 and a family member over the discovery of a package that was delivered to Mr. Beard’s home in the 800 Blk of Raymond St. which contained the large amount of suspected heroin. The family member had taken the package away from the home in an attempt to discard it. Investigators then learned that Mr. Ricky Beard’s son Owen Ozenne age 22 had knowledge of the package being delivered to the home. Investigators seized approximately 3.5 pounds of suspected Heroin with an estimated street value of $200,000.00.
