On yesterday 03.14.22 Investigators with the Opelousas Police Department were conducting a follow up investigation into recent vehicle burglaries in the southwest section of Opelousas. During the investigation investigators made contact with residents of a home in the 1800 Blk. of Alonzo St. Officers subsequently discovered evidence of narcotics trafficking at the residence. Investigators seized nearly (2) pounds of assorted flavor Marijuana and (49) assorted vape pipes suspected of containing THC. Evidence of a marijuana distribution operation were also discovered at the home. The estimated street value of the narcotics seized was over $12,000.00. Investigators arrested 43 year old Shane Witt for (2) counts of possession with intent to distribute schedule I narcotics (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. 20 year old Austin Witt was cited for possession of schedule I narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
