On March 27, 2023 officers with the Opelousas Police Department investigated a battery complaint that was alleged to have occurred on or about March 24, 2023 between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. in  the city limits of Opelousas. The female victim reported that a male acquaintance who was identified as Christopher Simien age 39 of Opelousas had assaulted her after they had gotten into argument about terminating their relationship. The assault occurred in the presence of (2) minors that were at the home when the altercation occurred. The victim sustained minor injuries from the assault. Christopher Simien was arrested after a warrant for his arrest was signed by a Magistrate of the 27th JDC. Christopher Simien at the time of his arrest was employed by the Ville Platte Police Department. Simien formerly worked for both the Opelousas Police Department and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office over the past (2) years. Simien was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on the following charges:

  1. Battery of a Dating Partner, Child Endangerment.
  2. Battery of a Dating Partner, Pregnant Victim.
  3. Battery of a Dating Partner, Strangulation.
  4. Simple Assault.
