On October 06, 2023 Officers with the Opelousas Police Department’s Special Operations Division conducted a narcotics investigation in the 500 Blk. of Houston St. Investigators executed a search warrant after they verified information of illegal narcotics trafficking occurring at a residence in the 500 Blk of Houston St. Officers located illegal narcotics along with an illegally possessed firearm that had been illegally modified to fire in a fully automatic mode which resulted in the following arrest:

Christopher Thomas Jr. age: 18 of 500 Blk of Houston St. Opelousas, La. 70570

1. Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS

2. 40:1023–Prohibited Acts

3. Illegal Carry of Weapons; in presence of CDS

4. Possession of Machine Gun

Officers located over 3 lbs. of suspected marijuana and other evidence of narcotics trafficking during the search. Information related to the recovery of the modified firearm will be shared with the ATF personnel who closely monitor weapons that have been modified in this fashion. Officers are pleased to have gotten such a dangerous weapon of off the streets of our community. Thomas was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.
