SINGLE VEHICLE AUTO ACCIDENT FATALITY IN SUNSET DURING THE EVENING HOURS ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2022.
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz has confirmed that his office responded to a single vehicle auto accident on Boxie Road in Sunset on January 11, 2022 at 5:17 pm. The driver of the vehicle ran off of the road and struck an excavator that was parked on private property near the shoulder of Boxie Road. The driver, later identified as Adrian Marc Encalarde of Sunset, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Blood was drawn from Adrian Encalarde and toxicology results are pending at this time; however, speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
