According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On May 31, 2023, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit was conducting criminal patrol in the St. Landry Parish area.  Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a grey Chevrolet Impala for a traffic infraction and made contact with the driver, later identified as Dataevius Milton.  The passenger in the vehicle was identified as a juvenile.

 Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle and located 5 clear plastic bags containing a green vegetable material suspected to be Marijuana with an approximate weight of 349 grams (12 ounces) and a digital scale containing residue. Detectives also located a handgun concealed in the center console.

Dataevius Markel Milton was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail.  He was charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS (Marijuana), illegal carrying of weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, illegal window tint, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under seventeen years of age.
