Volunteers with the Louisiana Orphan Tain Museum, Bernadette Gaudin and Martha Aubert, are sprucing up around the area in preparation of Saturday’s Orphan Train Reunion Gathering.
October 14 — Louisiana Orphan Train Museum Presents the Orphan Train Reunion Gathering – Every year, the Louisiana Orphan Train Society holds an annual gathering of the descendants of the Louisiana Orphan Train Riders. Everyone is invited to gather and tour the museum, one of only two of its kind in the United States, and hear the untold stories of the children that rode the train from New York and eventually found homes in Louisiana between 1873 and 1929. 10-2 pm with program at 12:30 p.m., 223 South Academy Street, Opelousas, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.
