According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On September 7, 2022, Narcotics detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover operation within the city limits of Opelousas. Information was received that two (2) black males would be selling a gun.”
Detectives made contact with a silver Toyota Avalon occupied by two (2) black males. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kenneth Manuel and Michael Albert was the passenger.
During a search of the vehicle, detectives located two (2) semi-automatic handguns and a 22 caliber Uzi. Upon running a criminal history check, it was learned that both Kenneth Manuel and Michael Albert are convicted felons.
On September 7, 2022, Kenneth Troy Manuel was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with three (3) counts of possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies. Kenneth Manuel has a prior criminal history of illegal carrying of weapons, resisting arrest, illegal possession of stolen firearm, and assault by drive by shooting.
Michael Terrell Albert was also transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with three (3) counts of possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies. He has a prior criminal history of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, illegal possession of stolen things, and simple burglary
