Opelousas Police investigated and early morning shooting that occurred in the 800 Blk of Mia St. The shooting occurred just before 2:00 A.M.

Police were notified that one male victim had arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to his leg area. During the same time frame that officers were receiving information regarding the shooting an officer on patrol had observed a vehicle in the same area driving at high speeds in the neighborhood location. The officer attempted to stop said vehicle but the vehicle failed to stop and a brief chase ensued until several subjects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers were able to locate (2) suspects who had fled the vehicle and seized several firearms from the vehicle and in the area where the suspects were taken into custody. Further investigation determined that the vehicle which had been abandoned by the suspects was confirmed to be stolen from the Lafayette area. Investigators will be reviewing evidence and witness statements to determine if the suspects were involved in the shooting that occurred on Mia St.

The Mia St. shooting victim was listed in stable condition with non-life threating injuries. In total officers seized (5) firearms during the investigation. (3) handguns and (2) rifle caliber assault weapons. The following persons were booked at the St. Landry Parish Jail in relation to the stolen vehicle and recovered firearms:

Kenderous Rosette age: 29  of Hermet St. Opelousas, La.

  1. Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
  2. Aggravated flight from an officer
  3. Possession of a firearm with an Obliterated serial number
  4. Illegal carrying of a firearm

Romond Bruno age: 22 of E. Alexander St. Lafayette, La.
