UPDATE:
The victim in this mornings deadly shooting at Anytime Fitness on S. Union Street in Opelousas has been identified as 34 year old Harrison Bordenave of Opelousas. We would ask that the public keep the family of Harrison in their prayers.

The suspect in this morning’s shooting has been identified as 34 year old Jason Laday also of Opelousas. Jason Laday will be booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on the following charges:

  1. Second Degree Murder
  2. Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Investigators learned that the victim and the suspect had been involved in multiple disagreements over the past several weeks that ultimately led to today’s shooting. At least one incident occurred at the Anytime Fitness where the shooting took place. Investigators will continue to review the circumstances surrounding the previous incidents involving the two parties.
