Opelousas Police are currently investigating two shootings that occurred over the past week. The first shooting occurred on Wednesday just after 10:00 P.M. in the 500 Blk. of Berdie St. No one was injured during that shooting but a vehicle was struck by several rounds of gunfire. A person of interest has been identified and an arrest is expected.

The second shooting occurred on Friday night just before 10:30 P.M. in the 700 Blk. of W. Grolee St. Officers arrived  on scene to find one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. The victim was able to identify the shooter as 41 Year old Tyrone Levier of Opelousas. Levier surrendered himself to authorities this afternoon.

Levier was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on the following charges.

  1. Attempted Second Degree Murder
  2. Felon in Possession of a firearm.
