On Monday January 24, 2022 , Investigators with the Opelousas Police Department arrested Theodore Silas, 30 years old of Opelousas for his involvement in a string of recent robberies in the area. Silas is believed to be the suspect in the January 2, 2022 robbery of the Game Stop store in Opelousas as well as a recent January 22, 2022 robbery of the Check Into Cash. Both businesses are located in a shopping district in the 1700 block of Creswell Ln. Officers were able to develop leads after reviewing surveillance footage in the area that linked Silas to the robberies. Opelousas Investigators also worked with several other agencies, including the Lafayette Police Department and the Lafayette Sheriff’s office, as similar crimes had occurred in the Acadiana area. Silas is also believed to be the suspect in a Game Stop robbery in the City of Lafayette on December 28, 2021. Silas was also wanted on a Felony theft charge by the Lafayette Police Department. Silas was taken into custody at a residence in the 300 block of Natchez Blvd in Opelousas without incident. Officers recovered over $1400.00 in cash, a firearm believed to have been used in the robberies, and other evidence associated with the allege crimes. Opelousas Police would like to thank our law enforcement partners for absolutely great work. that aided in getting this violent criminal off the streets of our community. Without Investigators from Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and Lafayette Police Department this arrest would not have been possible. Silas was booked on (2) Cts. of Armed Robbery with a firearm.
