According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “For the past year, narcotics detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office have been investigating Christopher Pierre, who is the head of the Pierre drug trafficking syndicate, and his involvement in the illegal sales of heroin and fentanyl.”

On Thursday, September 15, 2022 at approximately 10:15 AM the Opelousas Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the area of East St. and Leo St. Upon further investigation it was determined that a Silver Pickup Truck and a Black Sedan were involved in the discharging of shots in the area. On May 30, 2022, officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to 1217 Ina Clare Dr. for a shooting complaint. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Kendol Payne, a thirty-one-year-old black male had been shot multiple times and had died because of his injuries.

Jasmin Dwayne Coleman is a 34 year old black male and is wanted for resisting an officer, obstruction of justice, possession with intent to distribute both schedule I and schedule II drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as traffic charges.
On February 19, 2022, deputies with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the 900 block of Annointing Drive, Opelousas, LA. in regards to a missing person complaint.
On February 16, 2022 just after 9:30PM officers with the Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to 121 West Church Street in reference to the shooting of a home and four vehicles.
On February 3rd officers responded to an aggravated assault complaint that occurred on Bullard Street in Opelousas.
